I have to wonder what your art teacher is on (or off, as the case may be -- maybe she needs to get back on her meds) to not like the 'placement' of the red highlights. All it does is give the impression of where the light source is coming from, and that looks perfectly consistent to me. Personally, I like where you put the red.
